What is
Life Coaching?

Life coaching is a practice that involves working with individuals to help them identify and achieve their personal and professional goals. The focus is on helping clients clarify their values, strengths, and aspirations, and then develop a plan to achieve their dreams. It is a collaborative process where the coach and client work together to develop strategies and solutions that align with the client's goals and values.

*Life coaching is a non-clinical approach and is not designed to treat mental health issues.

Therapy is a more clinical and formal approach that is typically focused on treating mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction. Therapists often work with individuals who are experiencing significant emotional distress, and they may use things like cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions to help clients develop coping skills and improve their mental well-being.

In contrast, life coaching is more focused on helping individuals identify and achieve personal and professional goals. Coaches work with clients to help them develop clarity around what they want and develop a plan to achieve their objectives. Coaches are typically not licensed mental health professionals (although some may have training in psychology, counseling, etc), and therefore the coaching relationship is often more collaborative and goal-oriented.

Does Life Coaching Work?

There is evidence to suggest that life coaching can be effective in helping individuals achieve their goals and improve their overall well-being. However, the success of life coaching depends on the individual client and their unique circumstances. It can be effective in helping individuals achieve a range of goals, such as improving job performance, increasing self-esteem, and enhancing relationships. Clients who are highly motivated, open to new ideas and perspectives, and willing to take action towards their goals are likely to benefit the most from coaching. Finding a coach who is a good match for your personality, values, and goals is also important in maximizing the effectiveness of coaching.
